Assimilation
Assimilation "is the act of changing aspects of one’s identity, including cultural identity, to fit societal standards." Students try to assimilate by not following their culture, changing the way they eat, they way they act and how they dress. I've seen people try to dress like others just to fit in. They think they will get criticized by the way they are dressed or their personality isn't as good as others. So that's probably why students try to assimilate. I don't think that people should change themselves or their cultural identity when they are in a new environment because if you follow your culture and do things the way you want to you will be different from others and probably seen as unique and not weird. However, there are benefits to assimilating to a new culture. For instance, you will be able to experience and enjoy new things you never thought you would've never seen before.
The guy in the white shirt is confused about what the other guy is saying but he wouldn't change or try to learn something new.
